The most frequently asked question when we see each other is “How are you?”, and the most common answers after that are “Good” or “About”, or “Fine”. All good news, right?

The exhibition “To Me, To You” is the answer to the above question that we don’t want to hear, but in most cases we don’t want to give either. It answers that dark place that is scarier than a turned-off lamp in a child’s room. A place that, if we haven’t been there, we wouldn’t want to be, and if we have been there and visited it, we thank ourselves for being ourselves and can afford to, when we have to, simply answer “Bad”.

Depression – this very difficult state of mind, spirit and body will be found in each of the illustrations of “To Me, To You”. The entire art of the exhibition is signed with pain, fear, anger, apathy, resignation, alienation, loneliness, insomnia and thousands of other states that demons dig out of the most intimate corners of us to show us that we are vulnerable. The thorny and very ugly path along which our feet mentally tear apart each pair of shoes, trying to pass through there and reach the cherished “I am fine, I am really fine”.

Depression is a silent place filled with deafening screams. This is the reason why Mihaela (Stalker Since 1993) and Borislava (Borislava MadeIt) Karadžovi have included sound, so that the next person on the path can pass by knowing that even after the most devastating storm there is a sun waiting to rise.
The illustrators, working together under the pseudonym Sisters in draw, put this psychological state at the heart of the upcoming exhibition, lifting the veil of ignorance and opening a space for empathy, compassion and, above all, the help that is truly needed in such moments.
In this mission, they are joined by the artists Gena, Grigovor, and Mila Robert, who will contribute to the audio-visual experience of the illustrations with their words and music. Another proof of the good and, above all, necessary work on the idea of Mihaela and Borislava is the short film by Martin Grahovski, which documents the work on the illustrators' project. It captures the entire process from idea to realization and allows access to the most personal experiences of Sisters in draw. The film will also show the art residency preceding the exhibition. There, all participating artists share personal stories related to depression and develop a process for collaborating. The full brilliance of the “To Me, To You” project will be on view from 11.10 to 30.10, Buffer Parking at the “Inter Expo Center” metro station (level 2, entrance from the metro station).

The film screening will take place on 17.10 at 9:00 PM at the House of Cinema. After it, there will be a discussion panel with participants, psychologists and guests.

This exhibition is the beginning of erasing the mechanical response and being ready to say and hear, but honestly, what comes after “how are you?”
