The Ministry of Culture has announced on its official website the nominations for the National Award “Hristo G. Danov”. The ceremonial award ceremony will take place on June 7 (Friday) at 5 p.m. in the courtyard of the “Hristo G. Danov” house-museum in the Old Town of Plovdiv.

The event is organized by the Ministry of Culture and the Municipality of Plovdiv, which are co-founders of the award for contribution to Bulgarian literary culture. The competition has been held annually since 1999. The nominated participants traditionally receive their awards on the occasion of May 24 – the Day of the Holy Brothers Cyril and Methodius, of the Bulgarian Alphabet, Education and Culture and of Slavic Literature.

The awards are determined on a competitive basis in two rounds. Eight awards are presented in the categories: “Bulgarian Publishing House”; “Author of Bulgarian Fiction”; “Translator of Fiction”; “Author in the Field of Humanities”; "Author of a children's publication"; "Artist or design and layout of a book"; "Presentation of the Bulgarian book" and "Library work".

The grand prize is for an overall contribution to the national literary culture.

The winners of the award are awarded a diploma, a small sculpture and a cash prize, and the nominees - a diploma.

The event is part of the 22nd edition of the International Literary Festival "Plovdiv Reads".
