It is hardly about those typical ghost stories that stopped us from entering the abandoned house or walking through the unlit part of the hallway in childhood. With time and experience, “being haunted by ghosts” takes on a different meaning. Whether it is about the unspoken, what could not be experienced, the unfixed, the unanswered questions, the rewinding of the tape and all the possible ways in which it could have gone better, easier, more painless, the possibilities and spectrum are great, for the things that inhabit the backyard of the mind. Of course, recognition is painful, and everyone involved deserves their anonymity.
The ghosts in this series are unrecognizable, each of them is covered and has found their own way to deceive about themselves, about the absence of their own body and essence. Their haunting is silent, sometimes they are part of the landscape, sometimes they are like bad weather, sometimes they are the only thing that will consume me for the day, sometimes I will hope they stop haunting me and misleading me.
The exhibition includes mixed media drawings, a combination of traditional and digital painting, realized during numerous trips, early mornings and late evenings, inspired by real incidents and events from the most current part of the visual diary of Functional Neighbour.
