The artist-illustrator complements the writer's text and at the same time, like a magician with a brush, opens a door to the writing, to the imagination of the readers.

Among these magicians is Lyuben Zidarov (1923 – 2023), who very recently flew to his imaginary worlds, but left behind a numerous gallery of images that give young and old a smile and warm memories of favorite books.

In the museum, the illustration, "coming out" of the book body, acquires the life of an independent easel work in its bright primary color. The selected ten illustrations for famous works for children and adults reveal to the viewer a small part of the work of Lyuben Zidarov – extremely dedicated to his work, with a profound attitude and love for what he devoted himself to. His curiosity about the reality around him, his tireless desire to work and his rich imagination are imprinted on the illustrations, which are a natural visual continuation of the text in the books and reveal eras, real and fantastic worlds, cities, places and characters. For almost every reissue of a given book, Lyuben Zidarov refines and develops his drawings, making them more different and more vivid. For seven decades, the artist's creative style has undergone development and reached a unique and recognizable style.
