For the eighth consecutive year, on April 2 – International Children’s Book Day, the National Campaign to Encourage Reading “The March of Books” was launched.
The current edition of the campaign is being held with the support and participation of prominent Bulgarian athletes. In this regard, the host of the official opening at the Children’s Center of the Sofia Library was the famous sports journalist Kamen Alipiev. Former rhythmic gymnast Simona Peycheva and former captain of the national volleyball team Vladimir Nikolov were guests of the event.
The program was opened by Velizara Dobreva – Chairperson of the Management Board of the Bulgarian Book Association and Tsveta Karayancheva – Chairperson of the 44th National Assembly. Together with the other official guests, they read excerpts from their favorite children’s books. The children present heard the fairy tales "Three Wise Men" and "The Wolf and the Crow", parts of "The Kingdom of Patilana" and "Winnie the Pooh", as well as poems by Leda Mileva, Valeri Petrov and Uncle Chichopey (Yanaki Petrov).
