The exhibition of Prof. Dr. Spartak Paskalevski, in Veliko Tarnovo, includes a series of illustrations and paintings.
The illustrations were created on the occasion of the newly published book of fables “A Raven Does Not Open the Eye of a Raven” by the Tarnovo poet Anton Trufev, authoritatively realized by the “P.R. Slaveykov” library in Veliko Tarnovo.
The figurative world of fables is the basis of the creative ideas realized in the exhibition. That is why the artist has given the exhibition an amusing and intriguing title “A..? is a Fable”. The series of illustrations are the basis for inventions and interpretation of the allegorical and metaphorical world of Anton Trufev.
In the artist’s interpretation, allegory and metaphor involve not only the content aspects of the fable, but also their impact as aesthetic meanings of form and color.
The exhibition includes several more cycles. “Amadeus” is inspired by Mozart’s ideas about freedom, love, law and justice. Each of the four works presented is inspired by a separate opera by Mozart and develops the mentioned themes of the vicissitudes of love (“The Marriage of Figaro” and “The Abduction from the Palace”), happiness (“The Magic Flute”) and justice in the face of inevitable retribution (the finale of “Don Giovanni”). The artist also creates a work dedicated to Mozart’s “Requiem”, the eternal struggle between life and death, between the human urge for perfection and the trials of fate in the celebration of the coming final pacification.
The exhibition also includes the triptych “Fountain of Folly”, which is part of numerous variations on a theme inspired by the ironic philosophical work of Erasmus of Rotterdam, as well as the diptych “When…”, which carries the spirit of autobiographical self-irony.

The exhibition will be on display until September 30, 2017 at the Rafael Mihaylov Exhibition Halls in Veliko Tarnovo.

The exhibition "A .. is? A Fable" is dedicated to Anton Trufev /1939-2017/ and is in collaboration with TRAPEZIA, Anton Trufev, Deshka Deneva, Milka Deneva and Spartak Paskalevski
