On November 16, 2017, the official press conference of the Sofia International Literary Festival 2017 took place, which was held in the cozy atmosphere of the meeting place +tova.
Vera Petrova (program director) presented the program of this year's edition. This time, the festival will also be held in parallel with the book fair - from December 12 to 17. The main organizer is the Bulgarian Book Association, supported by the Ministry of Culture, the Sofia Municipality, the Visegrad Forum and in partnership with the National Palace of Culture.

The main focus this year is the desire of the Bulgarian Association of Literature to unite the program of both the fair and the festival, by presenting common events during both forums. Despite all the dramas and maneuvers that the organization has undergone, both events will traditionally be presented at the National Palace of Culture.
The new team with which the Sofia International Literature Festival works is betting entirely on the young audience and participants in the events. A total of 12 authors from the focus region, over 40 Bulgarian authors, 18 talks, 4 discussions, 2 exhibitions, 1 competition, author's performance and professional meeting of V4, 6 accompanying events, 5 children's authors and 4 workshops for children is the summary reading of the program. That is why the theme of the opening is “Meeting of Generations”, where some of the debutants of 2017 will be presented.
On the second day (December 13, 2017, 4:00 p.m.), the first exhibition organized by the Bulgarian Illustration website, entitled “The Millennium Generation – Illustrators”, will be opened. The event is the work of our administrator Milena Radeva and presents 30 young artists who work and create in the field of illustration. Some of them are already established names – mainly abroad, and for others this will be their first exhibition. During the opening, the last discussion of the National Book Center at the National Palace of Culture will be held on the topic “The Difficult Meeting with the Bulgarian Publisher”.
Another exhibition will be presented within the festival – “Samizdat – Dissident Books from the Czech Republic and Poland” (December 14, 2017)
This year, the Sofia International Literature Festival offers many new ideas with a completely new, fresh vision and an eye towards the younger generation. We will be following the entire festival program, and soon expect more information about our upcoming exhibition.
