SoEXHIBITION is the filling of the walls in SOHO with food for the soul in the form of paintings, photographs and installations.
At the end of summer, the sun continues to caress our days, and our thoughts, unlike ourselves, have not yet returned from the seas and mountains. That is why, for at least a little while longer, we choose to look at the carefreeness of existence through the works of Tsveta Petrova and her exhibition "Children's Games". Because when you are little, and your imagination is endless, even without moving from home, your fantasy takes you on countless journeys. Because when you run like a rocket through the meadow, everything around blurs into colorful spots. Because soap bubbles illuminated by the sun are a miracle of miracles, and when the summer rain falls, it means only one thing - boldly splashing through the puddles. The bathtub is an entire ocean, and each cap is a steamboat.
Of course, everyone has a different childhood, but if we try, we can't help but remember the magic in the most "ordinary" events. It is because of this that Tsveta's watercolors touch us. They take us back to images from a time when the responsibility that adults suffer from was still an abstraction. And the style evokes the main subtheme - nostalgia, because it brings us a feeling of imperceptibly slipping away times. Memories that draw a slight smile on our faces, expressing an intertwining feeling of sadness with the satisfaction of the experience.
In her works, the child in her comes to life, riding a bike with the gang along the gravel path along the Rositsa River and the poplars. The child who chases her grandmother's chickens around the yard in Sevlievo, after spending hours teaching them to fly. And paper boats, set afloat in the Black Sea, are impressive machines in a fight for survival. Tsveta shares that for her, childhood was the summers at her grandmother's, where she and a group of neighborhood children spent time together from morning to night, inventing all sorts of games. Games with chalk, sticks, mud potions and flowers, because when you're little, everything means much more and you yourself are more real and all that remains is not to forget about yourself as you grow older.
Tsveta Petrova is an illustrator who works mainly on children's books. As a person and artist who lived "in foreign lands", the breath of nostalgia is often felt in her works, which found inspiration precisely there - back through the most "ordinary" memories. She graduated from "Plastic Arts" in Bordeaux, where she participated in two group exhibitions with her French colleagues. One is on the topic of Twin Peaks posters and, for an even more twist, is housed on a boat floating on the river. This was followed by a master's degree in Illustration in Portsmouth and a return to her hometown - Varna and two solo exhibitions. Among her participations, we are impressed by her inclusion in the Parakids project, through which the stories of 7 extraordinary children come to life with the help of 7 illustrators, so that we can look beyond their difficulties to their immense imagination. You can find out more about her here Clementine Petrova - Art & Illustration.
The exhibition contains 30 illustrations that you can view within a week in the SoHALL hall, and of course we advise you to do so at the opening so that we can meet you with the author.
