On the eve of the International Children's Book Day, the National Palace of Culture - NDK and the National Book Center - NDK presented the second catalog "Children's Books from Bulgaria: Contemporary Writers and Artists".
Miroslav Borshosh welcomed the guests and shared how proud he was of the catalog and what Mihaela Petrova, Valentina Stoeva, Angela Rodel and Damyan Damyanov have managed to create over the past year. He concluded his speech with the words: “The reason there are people who read is only one, that they were once reading children. We all – here in this hall, make this possible – for there to be reading children who can become reading people!” Darya Karapetkova (member of the expert council of the National Center and translator) also expressed her admiration for the final result achieved. Val Stoeva (Children's Books Foundation) explained in detail how the work on the selection, vision and ideas of both the old and new catalogs went. Val also gave a special interview for our page “Bulgarian Illustration”, which we will present to you in a subsequent post. At the end of the presentation, Mihaela Petrova read a congratulatory address from the mayor of Sofia – Yordanka Fandakova. The catalogue will be presented this Monday at the Bologna International Fair (March 3-6). Among the guests of the event were many writers, publishers and illustrators - here are whom we managed to capture in photos.
