Comics have always been a “different kind” of illustration. Even the Union of Bulgarian Artists has divided the “Illustration” and “Comics” sections into two separate ones. But this event definitely deserves the attention of the audience, so we share it with everyone.
“Leonid Yovchev tries to find the first issue of the magazine “Daga” – the favorite comic magazine from his childhood. The film explores a cultural phenomenon. At the height of socialism – in 1979, a children’s magazine appeared in Bulgaria, propagating Western influence – comic art. This magazine has existed for more than ten years and its huge circulation – 300,000 copies are sold out to the last book. “Daga” magazine is a unique publication, not only in Bulgaria, but in the entire former Socialist Bloc. Some of the series and characters of “Daga” still live in people’s minds today and have left a lasting mark on their personalities.”
The premiere screening will be on March 28, 2017 (Tuesday) at 8:00 PM at Dom na kinoto. There are still a few tickets left, which you can purchase at the cinema box office.
