60 artists from the member states of the European Union have joined the campaign “What exactly is a European identity?” Their works will be presented on giant canvases placed in different places in the European area of Brussels. Among the participants we find artists from Belgium, Ireland, Italy, France, Portugal and Bulgaria.
The Bulgarian participation is in the person of Mila Yaneva-Tabakova, whose work we have already presented on the site, and to the EU question she answers as follows:
“This work comes from the idea that there are linguistic identities specific to each European language. Most of these languages use the same word to say “I play” music or “I play” a game. In my language, the word “game” means to play and dance, which is also related to music. And every “game” of music, dance, games and other similar activities is positive.”
You can view all the included works on the website of URBANA – a collective of artists and a partner of the campaign.
