The event is part of the program of the National Academy of Arts, dedicated to the celebration of May 24 - the Day of the Holy Brothers Cyril and Methodius, of the Bulgarian alphabet, education and culture and of Slavic literature.
On May 21, 2026 at 4:30 p.m. in the Academy Gallery of the National Academy of Arts, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Svetlin Balezdrov and doctoral student Lyuboslav Boyanov will give a lecture on the topic: "FONT DESIGN FOR NON-FONT DESIGNERS", which aims to present modern methods and technologies for creating digital fonts, as well as to demonstrate their potential for application in design practice.
The lecture is intended for all those who are interested in the processes of creation and practical application of modern digital fonts and wish to deepen, expand or update their knowledge in the field of font design and typography.
The lecture is part of the project "Shared Fonts", implemented within the framework of the Competition for Funding Projects for the Inherent Scientific and Artistic Creative Activity at the National Academy of Arts for 2026.
Svetlin Balezdrov is an associate professor and doctor at the National Academy of Arts, where he teaches the disciplines "Graphic Design" and "Multimedia in Advertising" in the specialty "Advertising Design". In parallel with his teaching activities, he develops an active practice in the field of typography and is a co-founder of the digital platform for Bulgarian typography npoekmu.me.
Lyuboslav Boyanov is a typeface designer and calligrapher whose interest in typography and calligraphy was formed during his studies in the Poster and Visual Communication department at the National Academy of Arts. Already as part of his graduation project, he developed a font optimized for small-scale work, which attracted international attention and was presented at the Type Directors Club Young Ones, and was also awarded second place in the Pangram competition.
