The Literary Festival in Ruse will be held for the tenth time in a row. The anniversary will be marked with a book containing works by more than 60 authors from this and previous editions of the festival. True to its credo of bringing together and encouraging differences, this year the festival welcomes various languages and genres under the title "Parallel Worlds". Writers, artists, directors, musicians and culinary experts from Austria, Bulgaria, Germany, Spain, Poland, the Czech Republic, Switzerland and Hungary will read poems and prose, bring paintings, photographs and installations, show films, talk, play music, improvise and taste together with the audience in Ruse and Tarnovo. Following its mission to expand knowledge about Elias Canetti, the festival meets with Barbara Traber - Canetti's secretary in London, as well as Sven Hanushek and Ventseslav Konstantinov, his researcher and translator, announced the International Society "Elias Canetti" - Ruse.
On October 9, 2017 (Monday) at 5:30 PM, the opening of the exhibition of Polish children's illustrations "Fauna, Flora and Pirates" will take place at Dom Canetti (the event is organized with the assistance of the Polish Institute in Sofia). The exhibition presents works from the 1950s and 1960s, or in other words, the years when book illustration was experiencing its golden age, as well as later works from the 1980s and 1990s. Among the illustrations you will find the pirates Rhubarb and Rum-Barbary, the corsair Palemon, as well as a number of representatives of the fairy-tale fauna - the Wawel Dragon, the sparrow Elemelekh, Puss in Boots, Gucho and Caesar, the fantastic characters from "The Secret of the Marabou Cipher". We invite children and adults to visit the colorful world of fairy tales, which entertains and intrigues.
