LoCKDowNILLUSTRATIoN is an exhibition that brings together works by students majoring in "Book Illustration and Layout" at the Iliya Petrov National Institute of Visual Arts, from the period of study in an electronic environment, as well as from short periods of in-person study.
More about the event:
"Illustration is closely related to the text in essence and tradition, it is a visual medium for images and characters created and described by the writer. But today it is a new method of communication and interaction between the artist and the viewer. From a visual intermediary between a book and a reader, by gradually upgrading its essence and role, illustration takes on a new, more significant form of impact, which we find in the art book. In this sense, LoCKDowNILLUSTRATIoN is also artistic evidence of the symbiotic relationship between traditional and digital methods of illustration at the high school stage.
The diligence of the young artists is commendable, who, even in isolation, tirelessly, ceaselessly created based on the stories of Ray Bradbury, Roald Dahl, the Brothers Grimm, on the poems of Valeri Petrov, inspired by films such as Donnie Darko, by favorite music or simply emotion, because everything is better when shared.
The exhibition is proof of the strong creative spirit and an unquenchable desire for life, creation and development during a pandemic.”
