We symbolically dedicate the month of May to letters. This year we will introduce you to four artists who work in the field of calligraphy and handwritten text.
Antoaneta Kisyova
Education: National Academy of Arts – Frescoes AMTII – Church Painting Professional experience (in a few words): I graduated in 91 – a bad time for frescoes… I was doing fashion. I was a designer, teacher, animator. I returned to frescoes after my second master’s degree. Now I teach frescoes at AMTII. There are inscriptions in the icons and frescoes. And my old love for handwritten fonts, for our old books, woke up. I teach students in our specialty and in amateur courses from this wealth
Exhibitions/projects/awards: I have solo exhibitions, participation in general… but actually, I prefer the Renaissance version with orders. For me, to feel with prayer, empathizing with the person or the occasion for which I make a work is very important.
What does it really mean to be involved in calligraphy? Teenage love, to begin with. Accumulating experience of the hand, then forgetting everything and singing the thing…
Is there a difference between “font” and “calligraphy”? Of course.
Is calligraphy an illustration? It could be an illustration of the state.
What do you dream of writing/depicting/illustrating through calligraphy? A fairy tale book for your grandchildren.
What do people most often NOT know about calligraphy? They don’t know how much it costs you to write it so easily and quickly
Favorite calligraphy examples: Oh, there are so many! There are wonderful calligraphers from all writing traditions.
