From March 19 to March 31, the legendary Sofia Bridge of Lovers near the National Palace of Culture will host the new exhibition "Under the Language 2018", which includes 60 panels, more than 40 new ideograms (15 of which are in European languages) and definitions by representatives of the cultural elite in our country.

The graphic experiment dedicated to the Cyrillic alphabet is constantly growing and developing. So far, "Under the Language" included 60 Cyrillic letters, 60 ideograms and 60 definitions by 60 representatives of the cultural elite in Bulgaria - writers, artists, journalists, etc. In 2018, 30 more were added to them, with some of the letters and words that make up the ideograms being in foreign languages - English, French, Italian, German, Greek.

A significant part of the words selected in the project are also foreign - nomadic words that have crossed the borders of our everyday vocabulary relatively recently. They enrich language, remind us that it is a living, breathing organism.

The typographic project “Under the Language” connects the threads of two types of communication – written-abstract and pictorial-concrete. The author’s goal is to show an approximate picture of our contemporary society. The precisely selected words and the graphic transformations of letters into images betray the time we live in – placed in an ever-shrinking world, trying to understand our own, constantly and inevitably expanding worldview.
