WWF Bulgaria and the Society of Animalists, Florists and Scientific Illustrators DAPHNI join forces in the exhibition "The Wonders of Nature: From Seed to Forest" to present the key conditions for successful afforestation and the forest wealth that we must preserve.

Healthy forests are extremely important for the well-being of people and nature.
In addition to being a home for wild animals, they provide us with clean air, drinking water, raw materials, protection from floods, and climate change mitigation through carbon capture. But prolonged droughts, heat waves, fires and strong storms, a consequence of climate change, as well as illegal logging and other human activities, are a great threat to them.

It is more than clear that it is vital for us - the people - to urgently join forces in protecting forests. For many of us, this often means one thing - afforestation! However, they are of real benefit only when certain requirements are met. Creating new forests is a much more complex and lengthy process than we imagine. It neither begins nor ends with the planting of a sapling in the soil.

The Southwestern State Enterprise YUZDP-DP (@GoriUZBulgaria) and the environmental organization WWF Bulgaria are working in partnership to restore forests that are resilient to climate change in protected areas of the Natura 2000 ecological network. Nearly 1 million saplings will be planted as part of the LIFE Reforest project!

Opening: April 6, 2023, 6:00 PM
