"BNB Printing House" AD received an award for the best promotional banknote at the international forum for secure document technologies High Security Printing EMEA, which was held in Basel, Switzerland. The topic of the conference was the latest technologies and techniques in the production and issuance of banknotes, electronic passports and personal documents in Europe, the Middle East and Africa. "BNB Printing House" AD won first place in the category of the best promotional banknote with the motif "THE BUTTERFLY EFFECT". The occasion for the creation of this banknote is the 30th anniversary of the printing house. The distinction from Basel is due to the efforts of the BNB Printing House team, the designers from the "Pre-press" sector and the employees from the "Securities Production" directorate, as well as the modern equipment owned by the printing house. The production of the banknote is of extremely complex design and includes dry and wet offset, intaglio and screen printing, with a diffraction strip from the printing house “Demax” AD, including 3D and bas-relief effects, positive/negative electronic motion effect, achromatic micro-engraved portrait, micro- and nano-engineered images and registered demetallization. The recognition for the “BNB Printing House” AD can also be seen on the official website of High Security Printing EMEA.
At the same forum, the partner company in the Bulgarian printing house – Oberthur Fiduciaire, was also awarded in the category for the best new series of banknotes, for “The Art of Butterflies”. The five banknotes are printed on one sheet with five different designs and five different security threads, including Anima, Pulsar and Relief, to obtain an extremely attractive and technically advanced set. The theme was chosen because it symbolizes the spirit of Jean-Pierre Savaret, who took over the company 40 years ago and turned it into the successful group it is today. The butterflies featured are five species from the famous collection of François-Charles Aubert, which can be seen at the British Museum in London.
This is not the first award for the BNB Printing House. The 100 leva banknote, which the Bulgarian National Bank put into circulation on 28 December 2018, was chosen as the banknote of 2019 during the High Security Printing EMEA conference from 25 to 27 March 2019 in Malta.
