On the eve of May 24 - the Day of the Holy Brothers Cyril and Methodius, of the Bulgarian Alphabet, Education and Culture and of Slavic Literature, the Publishing Group "Prosveta" presents in the city of Sofia the anniversary exhibition "Primary Books of Generations of Bulgarians", dedicated to the favorite first textbook of every Bulgarian child.
From May 22 to June 5, 2026, the exhibition will be presented at the Open-Air Gallery of the Sofia Municipality in the City Garden in front of the Ivan Vazov National Theater, the alley to the Sofia City Art Gallery.
The official opening will take place on May 23, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. in front of the Ivan Vazov National Theater, with the special participation of the children's choir "PIM-PAM".

The authors of the exhibition are Anton Staykov and Svoboda Tsekova, who are also the authors of the book "The Bulgarian Primer. 200 Years in the First Grade", published by "Prosveta" and awarded the "Golden Lion" award.
The exhibition traces the development of primers, with which millions of Bulgarians have learned to read over the past eight decades. All 13 primers for general education schools published by "Prosveta" from the founding of the publishing house in 1945 to the present day are presented.
The exhibition takes visitors back in time and tells not only about the changes in the educational content and illustration, but also about the development of Bulgarian education, culture and society over the years.
The event is part of the initiatives of the "Prosveta" Publishing Group, dedicated to Bulgarian education and literature, and is implemented with the support of the Sofia Municipality.
