This month will be the last discussion in the Year of the Children's Book. The topic is "The Millennium Generation - Illustrators. The Difficult Meeting with the Bulgarian Publisher" and will be held on December 13 at 4:30 PM in the Marble Lobby of the National Palace of Culture. Attention will be focused on the work of the youngest Bulgarian artists who actively create illustrations for foreign publishing houses, in order to ask both parties important questions: Why is their more difficult meeting with the Bulgarian publisher? Are they looking for each other? Why is it difficult for them to meet? Is there anyone to introduce them? In an attempt to make this acquaintance, we hope to understand what is missing in the conversation between a publisher and an illustrator?

The discussion will feature: Mihaela Petrova – Head of the National Book Center – NDK; Dr. Milena Radeva – Illustrator and Administrator of the Bulgarian Illustration website; Zornitsa Hristova from Tochitsa Publishing House; Bojana Apostolova from Janet 45 Publishing House; Alexander Krastev from Az Cheta.

The event will be accompanied by an exhibition of young Bulgarian illustrators, many of whom work abroad, but are unknown to the Bulgarian publisher.

This is also the first exhibition organized by the Bulgarian Illustration website at the invitation of the Sofia International Literary Festival, in partnership with the National Book Center – NDK.

The exhibition invites 30 young Bulgarian illustrators working in Bulgaria and abroad to present their work to domestic publishers. The main goal of the exhibition is to arouse the interest of publishers and guests in an already established generation of artists, who, despite the narrow framework of the Bulgarian book market, manage to create. The exhibition features artists living in Bulgaria, Spain, England, Hungary, France, Italy, Austria, Belgium, and their illustrations go far beyond these geographical boundaries.

The event is part of the fifth edition of the Sofia International Literature Festival. Every year the festival has an international focus, and this year it will present the literature of the Visegrad Four – Poland, Slovakia, Hungary, and the Czech Republic. The main part of the festival program will take place in the Marble Lobby of the National Palace of Culture, in parallel with the Book Fair.
