Kiri-e exhibitions are already one of the most eagerly awaited events in the Days of Japanese Culture. Not only because they present beautiful works, but also because they are a bridge between Bulgarian and Japanese culture.
The free workshops held help people get closer to the traditions of the Land of the Rising Sun.
After the successful exhibition on the theme "Nature" in 2024, the group of Kiri-e artists at the NAKAMA Association and their Japanese colleagues will present a new exhibition with a theme closer to the traditions of Japan and Bulgaria. The exhibition will present kiri-e paintings with plots from various myths, legends, local traditions and fairy tales. Each work will be accompanied by a detailed annotation in two languages - English and Bulgarian, introducing the audience to details of the depicted story in order to create a more complete understanding and immersion in the topic.
The exhibition includes about 100 works by Bulgarian and Japanese authors and will be held with the kind partnership of the Sofia History Museum in the "Triangular Tower of Serdica" gallery provided by them.
Opening: November 4, 2025, 6:30 p.m.
Place: "Triangular Tower of Serdica" gallery, 16 "Princess Maria Luiza" Blvd.
Closing: November 16, 2025, 5:00 p.m.
Free thematic workshops will be held on November 15 and 16, from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.
Free admission to the exhibition and workshops.
The event is organized by the Nakama Association, with the support of Senga Art&Space, the Sofia History Museum and the Embassy of Japan.
